My Story
How Homestead Happiness LLC became a reality
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve had a passion for baking and cooking. When I was 14, just a freshman in high school, I applied to Le Cordon Bleu in Phoenix, Arizona. Unsurprisingly, I wasn’t accepted—but that moment made me put the dream of culinary school on the back burner.
Years later, I spent three years in community college, pursuing degrees in Psychology and then Dietetics, but nothing ever felt quite right. At the start of 2023, I decided it was time to take a leap of faith. Despite the cost and the fear of failure, I enrolled in culinary school. I started on April 4, 2023—and little did I know, that date would mark the beginning of everything.
Throughout school, I would often share my dream with chefs and fellow students: one day, I wanted to open a soup truck, serving fresh, homemade soup and bread.
While in school, I had the incredible opportunity to stage at Alinea, a three Michelin star restaurant in Chicago. It was the toughest challenge I’ve ever taken on. Both days of the 12-hour stage tested every part of me, and I was tempted to give up—but I didn’t. That experience taught me something crucial: I don’t want to spend my life bringing someone else’s vision to life. I want to create my own. I want to be my own boss.
So I asked myself—why wait? I’m ready now.
And that’s where this new adventure begins: I’m starting a soup truck. It’s scary, it’s exciting, and it’s everything I’ve dreamed of. Follow along for the journey—and come grab some freshly baked sourdough and a warm bowl of soup.
